"Es ist mir ein wichtiges Anliegen, die Gedenkarbeit der Landeszentrale für politische Bildung in und zu Hinzert gemeinsam mit den Angehörigen der ehemals Inhaftierten, dem Förderverein Gedenkstätte KZ Hinzert e.V., weiteren zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteur*innen in und außerhalb der Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Gedenkstätten und Erinnerungsarbeit zur NS-Zeit in Rheinland-Pfalz und der Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Erinnerungsarbeit im Saarland (LAG), mit der Forschungs- und Dokumentationsstelle SEAL an der Universität Trier sowie nationalen und internationalen Kooperationspartner*innen weiter zu entwickeln und die Erinnerung an die Geschehnisse wach zu halten", so Sabine Arend.
Die neue, nun für die Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Rheinland-Pfalz tätige Leiterin an der Gedenkstätte in Hinzert, war zuvor 14 Jahre in der Mahn- und Gedenkstätte Ravensbrück tätig.
The first course of the new director of the memorial, Dr. Sabine Arend, led to the graves of the dead buried on site. Here and at the "sites of inhumanity" she laid flowers in memory of those, who were murdered and tortured.
"It is an important concern for me to further develop the commemorative work of the Centre for Civic Education of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in and around Hinzert together with the relatives of the former prisoners, the Förderverein Gedenkstätte KZ Hinzert e.V., other civil society actors in and outside the State Working Group of Memorials and Remembrance Work on the Nazi Era in Rhineland-Palatinate, with the SEAL Research and Documentation Center at the University of Trier, as well as national and international cooperation partners, and to keep the memory of the events alive," said Sabine Arend.
The new director of the memorial in Hinzert, who now works for the Rhineland-Palatinate State Center for Civic Education, previously worked at the Ravensbrück Memorial for 14 years.

La nouvelle directrice du mémorial de Hinzert a travaillé auparavant pendant 14 ans à Mahn- und Gedenkstätte Ravensbrück.
